Delta Blues:
This project is a personal essay on a regional landscape that
has symbolic connections to the overall post-modern American landscape.
The Delta is a unique place, a land of extremes, and a microcosm
of the failures and successes of American history. The location
where this essay takes place is Tunica County and the specific
subject is the impact of large-scale casino gambling on this once
rural place, and subsequently the people who live there. Until
the early 1990's Tunica County was entirely a rural place and
one of the poorest counties in the country. My photographs point
out that a country's history is written on the land. Like so much
of America, these photographs show Tunica's transition from a
rural to a suburban landscape of casinos, resorts and shopping
malls. Delta Blues is a completed project. It includes 61 photographs.
At the present time I am seeking publication and exhibition opportunities
for it. For further information please contact the photographer.
